Who runs this and how it stays honest.
Energy In My Area is an independent comparison desk. We don't supply energy, we don't own a supplier, and we don't sell your details to anyone.
What we do
We collect the plans available at a given address and show them on one screen with the numbers that decide your bill: the unit rate, the contract length, and the cost of leaving early. Then a guide answers your questions about them in plain language, without collecting anything about you.
How we make money
Some suppliers pay us a commission when a customer switches through our links. That funds the site. It has two hard limits: it never changes the price you're offered, and it never changes the order plans appear in. Plans from suppliers who pay us nothing sit in the same list, sorted by whichever measure you chose.
If we ever cannot show a plan because a supplier withholds its data, we say so on the results rather than quietly leaving it out.
Where the numbers come from
Rates are gathered from published supplier tariffs and refreshed on a schedule. Energy prices move often, so treat every figure here as a starting point and confirm it with the supplier before you sign anything.
What we won't do
- Sell, rent, or pass on your contact details.
- Rank a plan higher because a supplier paid for it.
- Claim a saving we can't show the working for.
- Give you a quote — only a supplier can do that.

- The postcode you type. Used to look up plans for that area. It isn't tied to you.
- What you type to the guide. Sent to our AI provider to generate an answer.
- Basic usage data. Pages viewed and rough location from your IP address, for measuring traffic.
What we don't collect
We don't ask for your name, address, phone number, or account details to show you plans, and the guide is instructed to refuse them if offered.
Who we share with
- Our AI provider, to produce the guide's answers.
- A supplier, only if you click through to them — and then only what you give the supplier directly.
We don't sell personal information.
Advertising
This site displays advertising supplied by third parties, including Google. Third-party vendors, Google among them, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
